Employee Walking Near Track
Crash on Snowy Interstate
There has been an accident at Knoebels newest ride.
A worker was struck by a car for Impulse this morning. A park spokesperson said the accident happened just before ten o'clock as they were running a car through a test. The worker was walking along the track in the area of the ride's lowest point. He got too close and was struck by the car, which is wider than the track and can travel up to 55 miles an hour at times during the ride. The man suffered cuts to his head and face and was treated on-site first before being taken to a local hospital. The park isn't releasing the employee's name or condition at this time. We're told he was conscious and talking after the incident. Knoebels just sent us video yesterday of the first test run for the car you'll ride in for Impulse. They immediately shut down testing of the ride for the day and won't resume until they've evaluated all safety procedures, including making sure all employees are clear of the track before the start a test. The spokesperson stressed that they consider all employees to be family and the man's health is their upmost concern at this time. They couldn't say how long it will be until they resume testing. They had planned on starting to test with water dummies in the cars either tomorrow or Saturday.
